Treatment with diacerein suppresses arthritis progression in Tg197 mice. Clinical arthritis scores were assessed in Tg197 mice that received diacerein at 2 mg/kg daily (n = 9), 20 mg/kg daily (n = 8) or 60 mg/kg daily (n = 10), or water for injection (WFI; n = 10), or were left untreated (n = 10). Both ankle joints of the mice were examined for clinical assessment during the treatment period. Note the significant decreases in arthritis scores in all diacerein treated groups at the end of the study (i.e. at age 7 weeks). *P < 0.05 versus control groups.
