Atorvastatin increases CD59 mRNA levels in endothelial cells. (a) Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) were treated with atorvastatin (0.5 μM) and cultured for up to 16 hours in hypoxic conditions (1% O2). (b) HUVEC were cultured in normoxic (N) or hypoxic (H) conditions for 8 hours in the presence (At) or absence of atorvastatin 0.25 μM. Total RNA was isolated, and northern blots were prepared and probed for CD59 mRNA.
