From: Characterisation of the immune response to type I collagen in scleroderma

CI response

Controls (n)

1/28 (3.6%)

Healthy (19)

Rheumatoid arthritis (9)

SSc

  1. Positive proliferative response to type I collagen (CI) was defined as a greater-than-twofold increase in proliferating cells (CFSElow) in the presence of CI. Approximately one third of patients with scleroderma (SSc) demonstrate reactivity to CI, which was significantly higher than the proportion of controls (healthy and rheumatoid arthritis combined) responsive to CI (p = 0.009).
