FGF8 enhanced the release of promatrix metalloproteinase-3 and prostaglandin E2 from rabbit articular chondrocyte cultures. Chondrocytes were treated without (none) or with 100 ng/ml FGF8 and various concentrations of anti-FGF8 antibody (Ab) (1, 3 and 10 μg/ml) for 48 hours. Concentrations of (a) promatrix metalloproteinase-3 (proMMP-3) and (b) prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) in the culture medium were determined by ELISA. Each column represents the mean ± standard error.
