Characterisation of MSCs. In monolayer culture the adipose derived MSCs (A) assumed a polymorphic, fibroblast-like morphology and could be differentiated into adipocytes (B; Oil red staining), osteoblasts (C; von Kossa) and chondrocytes (D; alcian blue). The isolated MSCs showed a strong positive signal for the stem cell specific markers CD90+ (E) and CD105+ (F) and were negative for the hematopoietic stem cell markers CD45- (G) and CD34- (H).
