Phage homing to inflamed synovium. DBA/1J mice with ('inflamed') and without ('normal') collagen-induced arthritis were injected intravenously on day 35 with 1010 transducing units (TU) of phage expressing RGD-4C on their surface and control phage. Phage enrichment was calculated as the ratio of TU/g in synovial tissue to TU/g in brain tissue. RGD-4C phage accumulate in inflamed synovium, but not in normal synovium (P < 0.0001).
