  1. For the parameters of age, C-reactive protein (CRP) (normal range <5 mg/L), and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) (normal range <30 mm/hour), individual values are presented; x-ray grading of osteoarthritis was performed on the basis of the Kellgren-Lawrence scale [38], and macroscopic cartilage injury was graded according to the Hyaline Cartilage Lesion Classification System of the International Cartilage Repair Society (ICRS) [39]. The patient cohort consisted of 3 male and 8 female cartilage donors with a mean age of 69.6 ± 1.6 years and 3 left/8 right affected knee joints.
