Different stages of Dupuytren's disease progression. Stage A generally starts as a small lump in the palm of the hand, often just under the digit on the palmar crease. In stage B the disease spreads up the fascia and into the fingers, leading to the development of a cord. In stage C the disease spreads up the fingers, eventually creating a tight cord such that the fingers are forced to progressively bend, and are unable to straighten, effecting an irreversible contracture.
