25-OH vitamin D 3 levels in SLE patients and healthy controls. Plasma samples from SLE patients (treatment-naïve case (n = 79); treated patients (n = 50)) and healthy controls (HCA: medical students (n = 50); HCB: controls from same locality (n = 50)) were quantified by ELISA according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Treated SLE patients displayed significantly higher concentrations of plasma 25-OH vitamin D3 levels compared to treatment-naïve patients (P <0.001) and controls (HCA: (P <0.001); HCB: (P <0.01)).
