Percentages of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and control subjects with mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) amplifiable by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in their plasma or synovial fluid (SF). Individual positivities are based on the detection of the 453-base-pair mtDNA-specific PCR product in the plasma or SF samples.
