  1. Variables with P value of less than 0.1 on univariable analysis (Table 2) were included in the model. In order to avoid collinearity, only one blood pressure parameter and either plasma concentration of tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) or interleukin-2 (IL-2) were added at each iteration of the model. This table shows the final model with mean arterial pressure (MAP) and TNF-α. The size of the CD4+CD28null T-cell expansion remained independently associated with pulse wave velocity with negligible impact on the model characteristics when pulse pressure or systolic blood pressure was substituted for MAP and when plasma concentration of IL-2 was substituted for TNF-α
