Schematic representation of the in vivo experimental design. Rats were pre-immunized with the indicated antigens for 21 days, followed by induction of CIA by two consecutive intradermal inoculations of bovine type II collagen. Rats were monitored regularly for visible signs of arthritis and were sacrificed at day 46. The time scale is shown in days. Sera were collected at sacrifice.
