Chondroclasts and osteoclasts are transcriptionally distinct. Microarray analysis of RNA isolated from laser-captured chondroclasts and osteoclasts. Gene expression profiling for differentially expressed genes was compared in a multivariate analysis via ClustVis using hierarchical clustering and principal component analysis. The expression analysis led to the successful segregation of these cell populations by chondroclasts vs osteoclasts via principal component analysis (a, b) and hierarchical clustering analysis (c). b The PCA plot shows PC1 and PC2 indicating 58.1% and 15% of the total variance, respectively
