A proposed model of the associations between the urinary Na/K ratio, RA disease activity, and hypertension. An increase in urinary Na/K ratio associated not only with an increase in the prevalence of hypertension, but also with an increase in the disease activity of RA. Nutritional interventions that reduce the urinary Na/K ratio such as salt restriction and potassium supplementation could be potential candidates for attenuating disease activity of RA as well as hypertension.
