BLM reduced the peristaltic distance of the upper gastrointestinal tract in mice. a Schematic representation of the experimental protocol. Osmotic pumps containing 200 μL of BLM (125 mg/kg) or NS were implanted subcutaneously onto the backs of C57BL/6 mice on day 0. On day 42 (6 w), the mice were fasted overnight but given free access to water. Next day, the mice were orally administered 200 μL of Evans blue solution (5 % w/v in NS) and sacrificed 30 min later. The rate of gastrointestinal transit was calculated by dividing the distance of the Evans blue migration by the total length of the intestine. b ITR% in BLM- or NS- treated C57BL/6 mice (n = 5–7 mice per group).
