Comparison of joint space width (JSW) and the biochemical markers between generalized osteoarthritis (GOA) and non-GOA. Joint space width did not differ between GOA and non-GOA. C-reactive protein (CRP; P = 0.043), pyridinoline (Pyr; P = 0.046), YKL-40 (P < 0.0001) and matrix metalloproteinase-3 (MMP-3; P = 0.008) were significantly greater in GOA than in non-GOA determined with the Mann–Whitney U-test. Bars indicate maximum and minimum values within the observation range. P values are shown in each panel; N.S. indicates not significant. TIMP, tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases.
