  1. Calculation of the disease activity scores DAS and DAS28 to assess joint inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis and the response criteria of the European League against Rheumatism (EULAR) [24–27]. The EULAR criteria use the level of disease activity at the endpoint as well as the change at the endpoint for determining a patient as a good, moderate or non-responder. DAS28 = 0.56 × (√TJC28) + 0.28 × (√SJC28) + 0.70 × (lnESR) + 0.014 × GH; DAS = 0.54 × (√RAI) + 0.065 × SJC44 + 0.33 × (lnESR) + 0.0072 × GH.
