The effect of Candida albicans infection of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) production by synovial fibroblasts. Synovial fibroblasts were infected with C. albicans 2 × 105 yeasts/dish for 12 h in the absence or presence of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MEK1)/2 inhibitor U0126 and the supernatants were collected for assessment of PGE2 production by ELISA. N = 5, C. albicans vs phosphate-buffered saline (PBS), *P < 0.05; C. albicans + U0126 vs C. albicans alone, #P < 0.05.
