Changes in DNA, proteoglycan (sulfated glycosaminoglycan (GAG)) and hyaluronic acid (HA) contents of the annulus fibrosus (AF) and nucleus pulposus (NP) in nonpunctured control discs and 12 weeks after Link N or saline injections. Values represent the mean ± standard deviation of Link N and saline-injected discs and nonpuncture discs at 12 weeks post injection. There is a trend towards Link N stimulating GAG and HA production but it is statistically not significant (repeated analysis of variance, P > 0.8). The injection of Link N did not affect the DNA contents in the NP and AF.
