Effect of IL-1β, IL-6 and dexamethasone on sIL-1Ra and icIL-1Ra1 mRNA expression. (a) Chondrocytes (passage 5) were left unstimulated (control) or were stimulated for 18 hours with 1 ng/ml IL-1β (IL-1), with 10 ng/ml IL-6 and 100 ng/ml sIL-6R (IL-6) or with 10-7 M dexamethasone (dex). Blank, distilled water was used as the negative control. (b) In one experiment, expression levels of sIL-1Ra were assessed by quantitative real-time PCR. The graph shows sIL-1Ra expression corrected for glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) levels.
